  8.     And where the burning Sword awaits
  9.     Defy the old seraphic ban.

  11.     Thy will, that climbs from dark estates,
  12.     Shall divinize the godless fates,
  13.     This fiery ecstasy of dream
  14.     Melt down the grim, forbidden gates
  15.  
  16.     That open into spheres extreme
  17.     Beyond the starry-bubbled stream-
  18.     Beyond Capella, past Altair-
  19.     Where amaranthine gardens gleam.
  20.  
  21.     Thy feet shall tread the Scorpion's lair,
  22.     Thy hands shall catch the comet's hair;
  23.     Or over Endor thou shalt ride
  24.     Unfrighted on the tamed Nightmare.
  25.  
  26.     And thence go down where ghosts have died
  27.     And famished ghouls and vampires glide;
  28.     Or tarry in years behind the tomb;
  29.     Or in the multiple futures bide.
  30.  
  31.     Thou shalt respire the flame and fume
  32.     Of Beltis' altars drowned in gloom
  33.     Under her sharded fanes; or share
  34.     The fabled Atlantean doom,
  35.  
  36.     And rise unharmed to light and air
  37.     Out of old death, once more to death
  38.     With antinomian deed and thought
  39.     The planet of thy slain despair-
  40.  
  41.     Till stones and atoms, shadow-wrought,
  42.     Dissolving shall return to naught,
  43.     Or into fairer shapes be brought.
